Goodbye to HOPE

I feel a little overwhelmed today. It was our last day at Jeff Street, and it felt unreal saying goodbye to the friendships that have developed over the past two and a half months. I spent some time in the office working on things for Jesse, and I went back down to the Day Shelter right before we were supposed to leave. I played a game of cards with one of the ladies and took a few pictures with those friends whom I had grown close to. But as I left them, it was hard to imagine the fact that it was my last day working there and that I am not going to see these people for awhile, if ever again. I still haven’t completely processed it; I don’t expect for another week or so in order for me to realize that my summer of HOPE is over. I want to say thank you to all of my supporters and prayer warriors, for without you I couldn’t have had the amazing experience that I have had here in Louisville. I also want to thank each of my wonderful teammates. It was awesome getting to know you and grow close to you. I can’t believe how close we’ve become after such a short time, and I have been blessed by you being in my life. Lastly, I thank God for what he has done for me this summer. Thank You for everything that you have shown me this summer about me, myself, and your people. It has truly been a blessing to be a part of HOPE!
