Time

Well, I have realized that Relationship= Time. This has been a little frustrating for me because I feel like right when we have finally built those relationships we are leaving. But I can say that I am blessed to have build the relationships I have between neighbors and my friends at the shelter. Its hard to hear a neighbor almost get emotional over us leaving because “she finally has a good neighbor.” This neighbor that said this in particular we had the chance to sit down with her and live life together. She opened up and shared part of her story and it just broke my heart to imagine that this cute little older lady went through so much. It makes you realize that everyone has a story that is different from someone else.

I really feel like God places people in your life for a season and I have realized this recently with being here. Some people you can talk to about the gospel and they get it, but some you can talk to them until they are blue in the face, but they have to want to make that decision to change. The Holy Spirit has to be at work in that persons heart. It gets frustrating sometimes, but we have to put it in God’s hands and trust Him that He is starting a work in that persons life. I have came to this realization with one of my close friends here at the shelter. I can’t say anything more that is going to convince her about the small stuff of the Bible, but I am going to love her and be her sister in Christ until the day I die. I hope and pray that I will be disciplined enough to keep up with her as I leave and continue that friendship from afar.

I love what God has been doing here and I can’t wait to see what He has for those that we have planted little seeds in while we have been here this summer. I pray that a great harvest will grow from it whether we see it or not.

  2. Right on, sister. I feel the same way about leaving–it’s too soon! I also want to pray that God will continue to water the seeds of hope that He’s allowed us to plant and eventually reap a great harvest, for His glory.

  3. Thank you for being willing to plant seeds; we will pray for each seed planted and for those who follow to help them grow. It’s so hard planting seeds that we sometimes don’t get to see the harvest – but never forget that lives have truly been changed because of God’s love and your willingness to share!
