More than enough

This week was the first time I went out to the area where all of the guests hang out and came out from behind a counter where I was working. Yesterday I sat out there for 2 hours talking with  some ladies. One lady opened up and told me how she became homeless and how hard it was. She said that it was wearing down on her and began to cry while talking about it. Then another lady told me about how she was pregnant once before and was beat and her baby died. Yesterday after listening to these women’s stories, reality began to sink in. There is alot of pain and suffering that walks through the doors at the shelter each day. I have been overwhelmed in knowing that I cannot fix everyone’s lives. But God is having to remind me that I did not come here to fix these people’s lives. Only He can do that. I am praying that He will give me the strength to listen and love these women well and to know that I cannot fix their lives, but I can introduce them to the one who can. Honestly, sometimes I begin to doubt if God is enough to meet these people’s needs. Their needs and problems seems so big. But I know and trust that He is a big God and is more than enough.

The Lord will guide you always; He will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings

Isaiah 58:11-12
