So I had been struggling lately with not feeling like I was really making a difference in the lives that came into Jeff. Street besides meeting their physical needs……until today. It was a normal day working in the day shelter and I was standing in the kitchen handing out toiletries and one of the girls that I had been praying that God would give me an opportunity to talk with her more came up to the window. Our conversation started off just asking when the next person was going to be called to do their laundry, but God totally opened the door and gave me an opportunity to share my testimony about how God brought me through so much. She proceeded to tell me her story about how she became homeless and a big chunk of her childhood. It opened my eyes to so much.

I was so worried coming here wondering how I was going to relate to someone who is homeless, but to my surprise God brings people together that in some way can relate to one another. Leaving the conversation today I was so blessed and encouraged because it showed me that we are all the same in God’s eyes. We re no better than they are or any less. I am so glad that I didn’t let my fear overpower my trust. But as a lot of people say, “you just have to let go, and let God” despite what you are scared of. You may only have that opportunity once so don’t let it slip away.

  1. Since this is a spiritual venue, I am graciously choosing not to make any comments that may potentially embarrass you before your none-the-wiser teammates. jk

Actually, I’m so excited about how God is using you! He brought some verses to my mind as I read your blog, and I wanted to share them.

1 Jn 4:18 “perfect love casts out fear”…and that perfect love resides within you…so glad He is decreasing your fear and increasing your trust!

Deut. 31:8 “The Lord is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” Praise Him!

Exodus 4:12 “Go and I will be with your mouth, and teach you what you are to say.” Thank God!

Col 4:5-6 “Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity. Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person.” Can’t do that unless you’re in the Word.

2 Cor. 2:14-15 “But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place. For we are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.”
Oh the honor, oh the beauty of this truth. Amazing!

    I love you!

  2. Hey Brit! Awesome thoughts on overcoming fears and trusting– I couldn’t be prouder of you for stepping out and deliberately allowing God to lead you into change– it’s something I’m still trying to learn. Be safe and know that Laura, Sadie, and I love you.
